Efforts to record and preserve queer experiences determine how scholars account for the past and provide a framework for understanding contemporary queer life. Essays in these issues consider historical materials from queer archives around the world as well as the recent critical practice of “queering” the archive by looking at historical collections for queer content (and its absence).

This issue explores the evolution of grassroots LGBT archives, debates over queer migrations, nationalism and the institutionalization of LGBT memory, the archiving of transgender activism, digitization and the classificatory systems of the archive, performances of the colonial archive, museums as archives, and everyday objects as archivable texts.

Daniel Marshall is Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Deakin University, Melbourne. Kevin P. Murphy is Associate Professor of History at the University of Minnesota and a member of the Radical History Review editorial collective. Zeb Tortorici is Assistant Professor of Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures at New York University.

Good enough overview

The Cliffs Quick Review serves as an outline, overview, and collection of general information that you might encounter in an Intro/General Psychology class. Other such discipline overviews, such as the Dummies guide, aren't as scholastic, and tend to cater more to Pop Psychology - or people who want to find answers to what's wrong with them.
It covers the basics of:
-Research Methods, Behavioral, sensation, perception, consciousness, learning, motivation, emotions, stress and health, Developmental, Personality, Abnormal, treatments, Social, intelligence, memory, Cognitive, language, and diversity; and a brief (useless) statistics section.
It would have been more useful if it delved specifically into the subdisciplines (noticeably lacking are Industrial/Org, Psychiatry, Educational.. Also, in some places, all information isn't given, but rather a representative sample of information in that category. In favor of brevity, it lacks concrete examples.

One essay examines how Western definitions of disability imposed during colonial rule shaped Botswanan perceptions of disability. Another looks at labor activism among blind workers in Northern Ireland in the 1930s; a third essay, drawing on previously untranslated political texts by disabled writers and activists from the Weimar era, dispels the simplistic assessment of the disabled as complacent in the face of the Nazis’ rise to power. Other essays interpret U.S. radical Randolph Bourne as a philosopher of disability politics and chronicle the emergence of a disabled feminist theater practice in the 1970s and 1980s.

Excellent and reasonably comprehensive introduction to basic linear algebra for the self-motivated student.

This book is an excellent introduction or review of linear algebra. It presents the most important aspects of basic linear algebra quickly, concisely, and accurately. It begins with concepts from vector and matrix algebra and continues through 318 pages to end with Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors. It presents a concept, e.g., linear independence, and then provides at least one example illustrating the concept. After a short discussion of each new concept, a fully-worked example is provided. Pages frequently appear with multiple examples.

There are no exercises with answers for the student to check their comprehension. You can instead use the examples as exercises, which works quite well since the examples are fully worked out. However, you must bring your own motivation to this Quick Review. Although the work is over 300 pages it presents "just the facts" and spends essentially no time building motivation or interest. Highly recommended, but only for the self-motivated reader.

Quick introduction to linear algebra

This is a nice introduction to vector and matrix algebra. It also introduces projection, linear transformation,and eigenvalues and eigenvectors. This would not be great text for someone taking a linear algrebra course as it does not have additional excercises with solutions. It would make a nice addition to the text if Wiley republishes. I would also suggest that a chapter on complex vectors be added. If you need a quick introduction to the concepts of linear algebra this is a affordable book and the level of difficulty not unreasonable for most self learners.
