constructions of homosexuality enable inclusion, Clarke reconsiders the work of Habermas and Foucault in relation to contemporary visibility politics, Kant’s moral and political theory, Marx’s analysis of value, and the sexualized dynamics of the Victorian cultural public sphere. The juxtaposition of Habermas with Foucault reveals the surprising value of reading the former in the context of queer politics and the usefulness of the theory of the public sphere for understanding contemporary identity politics and the visibility politics of the 1990s. Examining how a host of nonsexual factors impinge historically upon the constitution of sexual identities and practices, Clarke negotiates the relation between questions of publicity and categories of value. Discussions of television sitcoms (such as Ellen), marketing techniques, authenticity, and literary culture add to this daring analysis of visibility politics.
As a critique of the claim that equal representation of gays and lesbians necessarily constitutes progress, this significant intervention into social theory will find enthusiastic readers in the fields of Victorian, cultural, literary, and gay and lesbian studies, as well as other fields engaged with categories of identity.

I agree with the previous reviewer that $25 is too much for this book; buy it used and enjoy! There are not a lot of recipes, but you can get a taste for Turkish cuisine, which is much like other Middle Eastern and Greek specialties, and move on to more difficult cookbooks when/if you are ready!

It is a very pretty book but small... thin. The cost indicated otherwise. It was $25. for a very thin cookbook. In my eyes, not worth the money. I found one on sale that had many more pages at Borders for $5.00. If it was not such a hassle, I would have sent yours back.

The Korean War begins briefly with the events that led to Korea's division before focusing in greater detail on North Korea's invasion of South Korea. The author offers good overviews of the roles of the major players, and she outlines the significant battles and campaigns, and the lengthy negotiations that resulted in armistice. Also mentioned are the roles that minorities and women played in the war. The Cold War examines armed conflicts and political battles within the 50-year power struggle between the Soviet Union, the U.S., and their respective allies. Events discussed include the Korean and Vietnam wars, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The book concludes with Mikhail Gorbachev's rise to power and the dismantling of the Soviet Union. Both books are abundantly illustrated with color and black-and-white photographs as well as maps. A Glimpse of an Era

If you grew up laughing at the jokes told in the cornfield on Hee Haw with your parents, you will understand how these short biographies are like looking through a scrapbook.
The 11 biographies start with stars of the "Grand Ole Opry" The Duke of Paducah, Homer and Jethro and Minnie Pearl, going to "Hee Haw" stars Grandpa Jones and Roy Clark.
I am happy to have this book in our collection and would love to see it updated.

This book was published simultaneously with
my book, *The Carter Family.*

It is heavy with "Hee Haw" stars since there
wasn't much information available at the time I
wrote it on such greats as Sarie & Sally, JamUp and Honey, Dr. Lew Childre and others.

Now that the Country Music Hall of Fame library
has more information, due to popular demand, I
would love to update this book for an interested
publisher.
